For over 85 years, Milwaukee Tool has been a trusted equipment partner for tradesmen in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing industries. Where most companies would be content to sit on their laurels, the brand continues to innovate year after year and month after month — creating products designed with their end users in mind.

But how did this illustrious brand get started? And what is the company up to today?

Let’s dive into the history behind Milwaukee brand specialist tools, which are available at our tool shop in Tulsa, OK.

How the Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation got started

The Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, or Milwaukee Tool for short, started in 1924. In the 1930s, they began producing their tools to the US Navy’s equipment standards. World War II and the industrial period that followed catapulted the company into becoming a major equipment supplier for the Navy.

By 2000, Milwaukee Tool had made a name for themselves with iconic products like the Sawzall. They were acquired by Techtronic Industries Co. in 2005, and with that, they returned to creating equipment that would solve problems for workers in the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) trades.

And thus started the internal revolution of Milwaukee Tool.

They soon became known for working side-by-side with tradesmen to discover their needs and issues, and creating new solutions to fix those problems and improve productivity on the job site. Effectively, they were problem-solvers at heart.

Milwaukee Tool invented the technology that allowed power tools to use lithium-ion power sources instead of an electric cord — starting the advent of cordless power tool use on job sites. Additionally, they created the M18 and M12 cordless systems, as well as the M18 FUEL and FORCE LOGIC lines.

Milwaukee Tool today

Today, Milwaukee Tool’s job site technology solutions now include power tool accessories, hand tools, job site lighting solutions, and the One Key digital platform for tradesmen tools and equipment.

However, they continue to strive for product innovation and problem-solving for the MEP trades. In fact, just last week, the brand announced their creation of the fastest-cutting and lightest compact band saw on the market today.

With that, it’s clear that the Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation doesn’t plan on stopping its innovative developments for construction site workers anytime soon.
